Weekly Business Update: 1

Weekly Business Update: 1

So I figured I’d start doing a short weekly blog post to give ya’ll an update on my journey to becoming a full time dancer and streamer.  I originally started streaming to develop an accountability program with practicing dance and I’m hoping this blog can be a similar accountability program for developing my business, marketing plans, curriculum and student base.  So here’s what’s been accomplished over the last couple of weeks for Pauldances!

Updated website with new art thanks to Critterart!  Created a “Shop” on the website where people can buy dance lessons and Pauldances merch.

Visited with the owner of a local dance studio about teaching for them and renting studio space for private lessons.  Spoke with another studio owner who teaches street dance and talked about collaborating on something.

Secured business license and filed a fictitious business name.  Everyone ready to cut checks to “Pauldances?”

Applied to teach Parks and Rec classes for two cities in the valley.

Stopped by a local elementary school district to talk about developing a ballroom dance program for children.  (Thanks for the Idea Matt!)

In general I felt pretty good about productivity over the last two weeks.  Local (vs twitch and personal development) productivity was slowed a bit because of traveling out of town to Lindy on the Rocks.  I loved being a part of that event and the community there really seemed to embrace the stream.

This week is going to be a “short week” at home because Laura and I are headed to TwitchCon! This is one of the biggest weekends for promoting the live stream and swing dancing to non dancers! We are going to be wandering around the San Diego Convention Center with a live stream backpack (1080p 60fps anyone?) and “lindy bombing” all over the place. Tune in Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

As far as other projects in the pipeline, tomorrow I’m streaming a private voice lesson with Elizabeth from The Charismastic Voice at 2:30 and in the evening I’m streaming from Rhythm and Blues Studio, sharing lindy hop with some local street dancers!

I’m going to get as far as I can with editing projects this week but no guarantees. In the pipeline we have a Lindy on the Rocks Montage and uploading two Paulcasts. (Hilary and Shana.)

For local student development I’ll be reaching out to more school districts throughout the week and starting the followup process with applications that have already been submitted. Wish me luck.

That’s about it for now! Thanks for reading and have a fun and productive week! Make good choices!

Paul
