The May Update!
I’ve got a few exciting announcements and channel updates so I figured I’d write up a quick blog post to keep ya’ll in the know!
The Big announcements:
I’m going to Camp Jitterbug for my first time next weekend! The team at Camp Jitterbug has graciously granted permission to live stream the social dances, competitions and even some of the “Jump Session Show” and behind the scenes for the show! I’m looking forward to sharing an exciting weekend in Seattle with my viewers from all over the world! Make sure to check out the Pauldances calendar for a detailed broadcast schedule.
The 2nd Annual Pauldances 24 Hour Danceathon is on the calendar! We are raising money for The ILHC Youth Program and Charity Gaming. Starting at 10:00am PDT on June 29th the Pauldances Dream Stream Team pledges to have at least two dancers on the dance floor for 24 hours straight. I need your help building buzz. Please share announcements, social media posts, videos and more as we approach the event. If you have ideas on how you can contribute please let us know! We will need stretch rewards. Anyone can participate, you won’t need to be here in person. For example: “For every $100 donated Josiah eats a piece of cheese” or “At $3000 Mikey Pedroza does a burlesque dance.” (These are just examples, Mikey Pedroza has not agreed to strip for twitch.)
I’m starting a “Sponsors” page on the website. This page will showcase “friends of channel” and will include links and promotions for Events and local venues I live stream, Teachers that collaborate on the channel, other streamers, and my favorite modern swing bands. I’m also looking for more opportunities to stream and promote Lindy Hop and the Arts, if you would like to collaborate in some way please don’t be afraid to contact me!
General Channel Updates:
Apologies for the streams not being as frequent over the last month or so. I’m still finding the “groove” with my new job and how it impacts my day to day schedule and I think I’m a lot closer to figuring it out. For the rest of May and into June my goal for stream days are Monday Practices, Thursdays at Lindygroove, Friday Night Games, and Sundays Paulcasts and Stream Reviews.
I love doing the Paulcasts and don’t worry, I plan on doing more, I just need to systematize my scheduling a little more. Finding someone new every week is actually a little bit more challenging than I thought. I also need to work on getting episodes edited and uploaded to youtube when they are finished. Editing is the bane of my existence but I will do my best to get those edited and uploaded. (I’ve also heard the requests to upload them as audio only somewhere and that’s in the pipeline, I promise.)
Speaking of editing, Laura and I recently filmed an Intro to lindy lesson that we are uploading to Skillshare. That should be up within the next two weeks and I’ll be sure to announce it when it’s complete! We hope to use skillshare as a cheap way to deliver dance lessons to our viewers, drive more viewership to the channel and maybe pick up a few extra bucks along the way.
Anyways, that’s about it for now, thanks for reading, watching and dancing! I’ll see you on the dance floor!
